About

Reining Glory Equestrian Center was founded by Rich and Teralynn Warner-Farnan in 2023.  The sanctuary resides on the border of Rensselaer and Columbia Counties in upstate New York.  The initial goal of our rescue was to help racehorses who were no longer successful on the racetrack and found themselves sold at auctions or directly to kill pens.  When thoroughbreds are no longer bringing their owners income on the track they are quickly discarded and find themselves in the wrong hands.  Sadly, so are the aged broodmares that are no longer valuable of making quality TB foals.

Reining Glory is a safe haven for four former broodmares. These mares are gentle, kind, and beautiful horses who have produced many foals who were sold to trainers to become racehorses.  Once these mares were of a certain age they were no longer useful for breeding and found themselves with no one and heading to the kill pen.  This is where Rich and Teralynn stepped in and gave these deserving mares a forever home at Reining Glory.

As we became immersed in the horse world we learned of more and more less fortunate horses and soon discovered thoroughbreds are not the only horses in this dire situation.  There are the overworked Amish horses, the camp horses that no one wants to support over the winter months, the ponies and older loved trail horses that kids have outgrown, the young quarter horses lame from being trained inhumanely to compete in the quarter horse circuits, and the neglect cases where horses are physically starved, to name a few.

Karen Disonell is a dedicated board member and avid animal lover who strives to improve animals’ lives one at a time.  We are excited to work together to help many more horses in need of love, good care, time, and patience.  A second chance.

Our Mission

Our Mission

At Reining Glory Equine Center our mission is to create awareness and make the world a kinder place for horses one at a time. The rescue originally began with the intention of helping thoroughbreds who did not make it as a racehorse and found themselves in the slaughter pipeline. However, as we became immersed in the horse world, we quickly learned the dark side of the horse industry and of all the other horses in need.

Our Vision

Reining Glory is dedicated to improving the lives of all horses who need rescue, rehabilitation, re-training, and re-homing. Equines who have been “dumped” at auctions and kill pens require time to heal emotionally, physically, and mentally. We at Reining Glory provide equines with all these aspects and will give them a second chance at life, a chance they all deserve. We are committed to helping horses that have no voice, no choice, and no one to help them in their dire time of need. EVERY horse deserves a chance to receive love, good care, quality nutrition, and a happily ever after…

“Two feet move our body, four feet move our soul.”
